TEHFATZ Protects TEHBODEE From the Effects of TEHNOMS

A new study has suggested that getting fatter may be part of your body’s defence against the worst effects of unhealthy eating.

A Plea to Kevin Smith: Fatty Accept Thy Self

Laura Buck has something to say to Kevin Smith:

I’m really happy that Kevin Smith caused a stink about getting thrown off a Southwest flight. Their seats are ridiculously cramped (even for people who aren’t “morbidly obese”) and the absolute rudeness of that fat-phobic flight attendant who kicked him off deserved to be called the hell out. Smith is on a rampage, dedicating countless tweets and smodcasts to raging against Southwest, but like most of us, he’s still part of a bigger (hyuck hyuck) problem.

This Is Why French Women Don’t Get Fat – They Eat Airtrigger warning – diet talk

Renee from Womanist Musing shares her disdain:

Well it seems as though a new diet fad starvation plan created in France is the next big thing. The diet is called ‘L’Air Fooding’ and it involves putting food on a plate and pretending to eat it. Yes, so very chic; put food on your form and bring it to your lips but never take a bite.

Bodies, Book Covers and Novels about Large Women

Gwen over at Sociological Images writes:

In the March 5, 2010 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Kate Ward has a feature about the women displayed on the covers of a number of novels featuring female protagonists who are clearly depicted as anything from “curvy” to “plus-size” to obese. Ward draws attention to the fact that despite how the female characters are portrayed in these novels, the cover models are often quite thin.

Will Mo’Nique and Gabourey Sidibe Ever Get Another Decent Role? Apparently not…

Not according to Jeff Winbush anyway…

The cold hard truth is there isn’t a lot of roles in Hollywood for plus-sized sistas. Mo’Nique and Gabourey are not going to have careers like Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock. There are no romantic comedies with Will Smith gazing in rapture into Gabourney’s eyes. Mo’Nique will not play Lady Macbeth or squeeze into leather and spandex to replace Halle Berry as Storm in another X-Men movie. It’s not going to happen.

Femininity, Sexualisation and Fat   (NSFW images)

Nik writes:

This topic came to me as I was gathering information on another post topic. Corsets. I wanted to talk about the beauty of corsetry. Unfortunately, I was plagued by the body modification implications of the subject, and whether that could be translated into anti-fat acceptance
